Genetic Analysis of TPOX, CSF1PO, D3S1358, D8S1179, vWA, D5S818, and TH01 Short Tandem Repeats Loci in Nias Population, Indonesia

BACKGROUND: Nias is an island located off the western coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. situated above Eurasian and Indo-Australian subduction zone plates. This makes it prone to earthquakes tsunamis. Genetic analysis genetic variation short tandem repeats (STR) locus are not widely known. These data valuable for individual identification paternity testing. METHODS: Seven STR loci (TPOX, CSF1PO, D3S1358, D8S1179, vWA, D5S818, TH01) were analyzed using 25 healthy unrelated persons population. Allele frequency, power discrimination (PD), expected heterozygosity, probability exclusion (PE) calculated. RESULTS: We found 40 alleles. The allele with highest frequency was alleles 9 at TH01 loci. While lowest CSF1PO loci, 12 TPOX 17 18 D8S1179 16 20 vWA Expected Heterozygosity, PD, PE number also All followed Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium (p > 0.05). PD values all tested ranged from 80.6 94.5%. CONCLUSION: report frequencies forensic statistical parameters seven in population, which can be used as a database reference populations.
